Introduction

Hello and welcome to this training course on Soil Preservation.
Soil provides many functions for humankind. It provides food for us to eat and purifies our water systems. It acts as a storage for atmospheric carbon and a home for biodiversity. It provides materials for building construction and a resource amenity enhancing physical and mental well-being.
Soil is obviously a very important resource for humankind. Yet this resource is finite. When soil is removed, damaged or contaminated, it can take many, many years to recover.

What happens when we don’t look after soil?

What are the impacts of poor agricultural and industrial practices on soil health and fertility?

How can we best manage this precious resource?

In this training course learners are provided with knowledge to be able to understand the fundamentals of soil preservation.
