Introduction

Hello and welcome to this training course on Forest Function Management.
The health and well being of humankind is inextricably linked to the health of our woodlands and forests.
Forest products are a vital part of our daily lives in more ways than we can imagine, from obvious paper and wood products, to the bioproducts used in medicines, cosmetics, new materials and foods.
Forest ecosystems provide habitats for plants and animals and protect the loss of biodiversity.
Forests ensure that land is protected from erosion and provide a social and recreational outlet.
Forests capture the carbon in the atmosphere and protect us from the effects of climate change.
Forests truly have many incredible functions.
How then can we best manage these functions in a sustainable manner

In this training course learners are provided with knowledge to be able to manage the forest functions.
